That being said, I've run 28 and 30 cog cassettes with short cage Sante derailleurs with adjustment of the "b screw" tensioner and careful chain length calibration. If not using a triple, I think you could get some pretty good gearing ranges from a short cage with some tinkering. I say that because you are obviously looking for a rider, and if you want a rider, there are ways to work around using the short cage. Just saying fwiw
