"Flared head" as in Conical hole, in the side of an adapter sleeve?? that's called a Countersunk allen (hex socket) head screw, meant to be flush mounted into the adapter's hole...

a trip to a hardware store tomorrow will be needed.... the thread size may be any number of sizes.
warning: 5/16"-18 threads and 8x1.25metric threads are VERY similar, but will NOT work well in either's holes.
