Bikes: Indeed!

I had the same experience with a USPS era Trek. Fortunately I bought it cheap for the complete Record 10-speed group.
On the other hand my Late nineties aluminum Rock Lobster with carbon seat stays and fork is a delight to ride.
I still haven't had the chance to ride a newer carbon fiber bike, which I hear are much improved over the old Trek, but I would love the opportunity.

The worst handling bike was my commuter Schwinn Hollywood which I rode to work in Berkeley and San Francisco for two years; super low bottom bracket, incredibly flexy step-through frame, big squishy tires. It gobbled up trolley tracks and potholes like PAC-MAN. The single speed gave me a great workout on the hills of San Francisco. I loved that awful bike!
