Most everyone just posting food. While yummy food at a good price is great as per my title of this thread that is not what I am asking about.
There was a time where you could buy a new bmw at good enough discount in Germany that your vacation was free. Of course a bicycle is a lot cheaper than a car so I don't expect that kind of savings but if I could go to Japaan/Koera/somewhere else have a great bicycle vacation and save 500 to 1000 that would be even better :-)
Rick yeah looks like I can't use saving money on a new bike or parts to go on vacation. ha-ha
I was not aware things are cheap in Japan right now, that's a huge surprise from when I was last there 30 years ago, I thought nothing was cheap there ever.
BMWs and other German makes were cheaper via "European delivery", because it saved on US import taxes, it was one of those special cases, if you owned the car before importation, the manufacturer didn't need to pay the import taxes; You took delivery, drove the car around on your vacation, then you brought the car back to the dealer to be shipped to the USA, and they would swap whatever parts needed, like headlights and possibly tail lights. Germans working in the USA did the reverse, I don't know if due to taxes or the car being priced less in the USA versus Germany, but I knew someone that bought a Miata in the USA and drove it a year, then brought back home to Germany with them.
