What's all that black goo in the first pic?
Is that anti seize compound? Any thin flat washer used? Were the pedal threads initially sloppy in the crank threads? Do the pedal spindles easily spin on the bearings or are they rough, or too tight at the pedal axle bearing because of a tight nut?
