I still walk behind the mower (commercial Toro) so that’s a good 2 hours or so a week plus a lot of “yard work”. Earlier this week I drove to Caledonia State Park then set out on the AT northbound with a 20# pack plus 4# of water. First backpacking in 30 years. Very enjoyable and I’m convinced my cycling muscles and cardio helped on those climbs. 10 miles north and net 1000 feet gain in elevation. Camped that night at Birch Run. Hob nobbed with the thru hikers. Marched southbound the next morning.
20 mountain miles and I sure was knackered by the time got back to the car. Took a day off then back on the bike. Now to think about if I want to do more backpacking.
