I reworked the calculations after a night's sleep and some really good coffee. The equivalent gearing to this bike with 40T chainring (assuming 20T cog on the Nexus hub) on my Miyata in the middle 36T chainring would be a 25T cog in 1st gear and 19T in 5th gear.
