Piff I'm assuming the Campagnolo parts are harder to find where you are, as 8sp index inserts are about £15-£20 as NOS here in England, and I could pick up some used but functional 8s Ergos for the same at a jumble. If you were this side of the Atlantic I'd offer to mail you a pair.

I'll see if I can rustle up a photo when I'm in the workshop tomorrow as I think there's one bike easily accessible with such a setup, if not I'll grab a rear mech and dummy it for some pics.

One of my favourite setups in recent years has been 10sp Mk2 Ergos (rounded hood tops rather than pointy) mated to a slightly modified Suntour VX s mid-cage rear derailleur and Shimano RSX front derailleur to run a custom spaced 8sp 12-26 cassette and 26/36/48 triple on one of my Audax bikes, put many thousands of miles on that setup and it's still the best mix of reliability, smoothness and overall capability I've ever used in terms of Ergo-shifted drivetrains :-)
