The LBS replaced the chain, I think it's a 6 speed. I assume that will work?
With regard to the freewheel, any suggestions for upgrading the existing freewheel to a Shimano one that shifts easier? I've got a 14-30 5 speed Suntour on there now.
I was going to suggest (I thought I had, but the post didn't appear) Suntour VX GT, which is just one version later and a bit lighter. These were both very good touring gears at the time, rivaling more expensive stuff from other manufacturers.
