I suspect if I tried a bike like that, I'd spend a lot of riding time flipping gears, looking for the one that's missing in the middle.
I figure you have to be pretty nerdy like a bunch of us to actually look up and see the percentage jumps between gears, the vast majority of folks wont give a rats patooty about it----BUT we all know that riding a bike with smaller percentage jumps is more enjoyable and efficient, whether you are unloaded or loaded.
BUT again, real life gearing range means we can live with jumps (well, I can anyway) of 13, 15, 16 %
I find getting over 17 to 20% is a pain in the arse, but usually there is just one shift like this, but ideally, it would be great to have smaller jumps
like I always note, 18 wheeler trucks have shorter jumps between shifts for a reason, carrying a lot of weight needs this, and our legs are no different.
I've toured a ton on a 9 spd 11-34, jumps are mostly 13, 15, with one in the middle at 17.6%, which is a bit annoying, but on my commuter bike, one common shift I use all the time is 20% and its a pain....
so closer jumps would be great, but I think we are all preaching to the converted here frankly.
