It's actually etanche, meaning 'waterproof', though these hubs are neither sealed nor etanche. The metal cap has a lip that kind of fits into a groove in the hub body, so I suppose any water has to do a bit more traveling to get inside the hub than some other hubs, but it'll still get in there!
