Sure. Logically making a wide swath across a hill should slow you down but very quickly it becomes hazardous as you pick up speed. So yes it works in a limited sense. It could continue to work if you feathered the brakes as you made this wide swath but at this point I would guess you are going to wear your tire’s unevenly and it’s still a hazard.
