I don't know if they are still making Attack but by the time I was in the industry Shimano had enough 7 speed stuff that we never found it necessary to sell Attack. If you like SRAM probably fine. Suntour was gone in the early 90s but officially died in 1988 before being bought out by Mori Industries who bought SR as well then More got out in 1995 ish and SR bought the thing but I think they came back as SR-Suntour in 2011 or so.

SunXCD has direct lineage to SunTour but they are more interested in sort of retro stuff.

Me personally if not going vintage and I had the ability to put a 9 speed cassette on the back would add a chain and cassette and a 9 speed shifter set and run that just fine and have a couple extra gears that will be enjoyable. Same old derailleurs and crank and I have a feeling the chain and cassette would need replacement anyway so it is a perfect excuse. You won't lose anything but gain a little more and you won't spend much more than you would on the same set up 7 speed maybe $20-50
