I have 23mm clinchers on a couple of ‘fast’ road bikes and I run 32mm on an endurance road bike and 38mm on a gravel bike. The wider tires are smoother, faster and more flat resistant. IMO 32mm is the sweet spot for anything less than a dedicated gravel bike.
