I wish you luck in your search... When I found my Competizione, it was in its second home, and it looked like the original owner had raced it competitively back in the 80's for a little while and then put it away to be forgotten. Thankfully, even though they stored it dirty, they clearly stored it indoors because it cleaned up very well. Chances are, the high end bikes you're looking for will have a similar story -- tools for a hobby or profession from decades ago that are hidden somewhere.
