I don't claim to know but "zero friction cycling" claims cheap waxes still have a percentage of mineral oils in them and the more expensive "lab grade" waxes used in products like Silca wax do not. The only downfall to cheap wax being they get dirtier quicker. Being said I used plain paraffin for decades and never had much issue except over cooking once or twice (used a electric frying pan)
Oddly enough I have never seen any data on their site about testing cheap paraffin although there are dozens of other waxes tested.
likely because the cheap paraffin works just as well as their voodoo wax. how could they sell it otherwise. i get 400+ miles out of a simple paraffin wax, but i am in a very dry climate so maybe that helps.
