Though I'm not quite following the later conversation where you are talking about a bend in the rim!
At the seam, the brake track is not completely flat/smooth -- one side of the seam has the rim sidewalls a tiny bit wider than the other side of the seam. So we're talking about squeezing the rim to get the seam to line up better
