How to clean/flush hydraulic disc brakes?
I got a set of broken SRAM hydraulic disc brakes (plus a rebuild kit) for free recently and need help on cleaning them out. I’ve got them to work somewhat after bleeding, but the bottom calipers are stuck and the tops don’t work very well. The oil that I emptied out was a bit dirty, and I imagine there’s something else clogging them. Cleaning the lines with a wire didn’t help much so my next step is likely chemicals.
What’s recommended for this? I’d use ether or acetone but they’re probably too harsh on rubber. Maybe white vinegar? But that’s got water in it and might affect brake fluid performance. Thanks in advance!
