Flagrant speculation: it could be that someone bought the incorrect length BB, then bought the correct length and returned the incorrect length in the second box. Dishonest but it happens.
That's not what somebody wants to do after a good install. ha. I do think I can get the caliper on it after just removing the crank though. If it is the wrong length it will have to be an issue at the factory as it has the sticker with all the correct specs on it.
