still recall tire mounting lube / soap was a great hand cleaner - and great moisturizer also

( still have the big tire irons we used to mount truck and tractor tires )

use Dawn detergent for a number of things - and good pre-soak for shirt stains etc

and after boring / honing a cylinder - always wash in Dawn detergent
