Bikes: (2) ti TiCycles, 2007 w/ triple and 2011 fixed, 1979 Peter Mooney, ~1983 Trek 420 now fixed and ~1973 Raleigh Carlton Competition gravel grinder

Memories. Of the 2017 ride. On the Mooney, recently converted to gravel fix gear. Four different gear ratios that ride. My shakedown ride pre-Cycle Oregon to Crater Lake including 30 miles of gravel and several thousand gravel feet of up and down. (Sadly, the gravel was canceled, then the whole ride due to smoke.) But the Trask shakedown went really well.

Sadly, I no longer do gravel. Too hard on my brain. It's seen the knocks of an NFL lineman (except all on a bike). The washboard at the bottom of so many of Oregon's gravel descents is exactly what I should never be doing.

And this Trask ride? That steep section "Slalom Rushty" with 38c front, 35c rear (big as feasible in back), the fix gear in 42-12! and canti brakes over that 1-1/2" to 2" "gravel" was an ear to ear blast! The Mooney had never done anything remotely like it in its previous 38 years and 48k miles and it was absolutely perfect for the job!

Can't wait to hear more!
