To summarize and bring this stage of the thread to a closing, Shimano Cues offers very little in terms of 1x transmissions for folders capable of providing acceptable ground clearance on 20" wheels while avoiding RD tension pulley cage contact with the rear tire sidewall. There's arguably only one RD in the current Cues line that meets this requirement, the Shimano Cues RD-U4000-GS part, rated nominally for up to 46T max cog. This part is in practice compatible with both Hyperglide and Linkglide cogsets -- there is at least one YouTube video demo showing this to be true -- and can be used in 9/10/11speed configurations depending on the Cues shifters, all of which share the same 1:1 cable pull across speeds. It is a potentially viable alternative to the Deore M6000, SLX M7000 and XT M8000 medium-cage GS RD. In this regard, we are better off with Cues than without it. I myself am happy to pick and choose from all Shimano lines, including Cues, based on need and application, and not necessarily turned off by the increased weight-durability of the Linkglide cogsets. I am neither a weight-wanker nor my bikes are so heavy already that I cannot countenance trading about 150g of additional weight for the benefits of Linkglide.

On a different though related note, I am curious about how far the Cues RD-U4000-GS part can be pushed beyond its 46T max nominal rating. Can it span this 11-50T dish?
