I assume I'm the most ignored, most invisible person on the Earth when I'm on a bicycle, whether its on a road or a MUP. I always assume everyone else is wearing ear buds and won't be able to hear me and they have no awareness of what's going on around them. I slow down and get around them as safely as possible. If I was going through an empty parking lot I'd assume any other bike rider was trying to get in my way and avoid them to the maximum extent possible.
