I’ve had Alfine 8 hubs on two bikes (including my current 29” commuter, as well as an Alfine 11 hub on a Bike Friday Tikit that I sold last year after riding it for almost 10 problem free years.
Im not a small guy at 200lbs and I’ve never had an issue with any of my Alfine hubs aside from needing to adjust the cable tension and having to replace a cassette joint that I smashed on a curb.

I think the Alfine 8 is a traditional IGH with pawls, not certain. But great that you have a good history with the Alfine 11, even pushing hard on it. Anything with smooth friction driving surfaces can also be extremely lube-sensitive. Audis with metal-belt CVT transmissions, require very special lube.
