Here's the Tern frame with the early cracks. I decided to nip this in the bud...
One year (about 1,000 miles and hundreds of clamp operations) later, the enlarged stress-breaker is crack-free. The defect on the left is where the Dremel tool slipped.
odd, my Mariner has a horizontal oval shape. I have not modified the frame.
