If you are doing a new build, why not go threadless? Even vintage bikes can easily be made threadless if you have the DIY and brazing skills you need or know someone that does.

Though I might admit it is sometimes a little more effort to find the headset for a 1" threadless steerer tube. As well as stems with a 1" steerer clamp.
