Campy 10sp chain vs. KMC

I ride a Chorus 10 setup, with a Veloce 13-29 cassette. Chain, cassette and pulleys were all recently changed, and since I have a supply of KMC 10sp chains I used one. The problem I have is that I believe I'm hearing the removable link running through the cassette in certain gears, usually 4th or 5th largest. I've tried adjusting it out to no avail, and of course I don't hear it when I put it up on the stand to do that. I was hearing the same noise on my old chain and cassette, except much worse, and the one before that too. The old chains were also KMC. Amazon had mistakenly sent me the entire retail display box when I only ordered one chain. that's why I have a supply. Rather than return it to have it go into a dump somewhere I just kept them.

As I pedal I can hear the noise every 2+ rotations of the crank, which with a 50 up front is about 108 links, and that is the chain length. I haven't paid attention to it when on the small ring. I also am vaguely aware that the Campy spacing isn't exactly the same between the cogs so maybe that's why I only hear it on certain cogs. I've had this bike and setup for almost 20 years now, and as I'm looking to buy a chain I found that I last purchased a real Campy chain in 2018 according to Amazon, which would equate with the timing on the noise.

So, my question is whether the brain trust here thinks that just putting on a real Campy chain will solve my problem? I would take the lightly used KMC and put it on my commuter bike which hasn't had a new chain in years.
