It takes me 40-50km just to get warmed up. You might extend your rides to more distant points, this can add some variety. For myself, I have done a few two-day rides. That is, I ride 120km to the coast in Chiba or Ibaraki, spend the night in a hotel, enjoy a good meal, some beer or sake, and a soak in the hot springs, then ride home the next day. The farther I ride, the more options I have.
I am also getting into bike-packing, and have put together a lightweight camping kit which I can carry on my gravel bike out to the countryside. I can get out of the concrete and steel of Tokyo, and spend a night among the bugs and foxes in the countryside, listen to the frogs, and eat a meal bought at a convenience store along the way. It’s a pleasure to sleep at night surrounded by the sounds of nature, and not the sounds of a city of 13 million people.
The last option is to join a group or club, rides are always more pleasant in the company of others.
