I did not either. If I fly somewhere, I have a planned end date because the plane ticket was bought months in advance. But otherwise, I pick an end date a few days before the end. GAP and C&O, I did not know how many days of sightseeing I wanted to do in DC until I got there.

That said, I am retired. Before retirement, my vacations were a week long, all vacations had planned end dates.
