Bikes: (2) ti TiCycles, 2007 w/ triple and 2011 fixed, 1979 Peter Mooney, ~1983 Trek 420 now fixed and ~1973 Raleigh Carlton Competition gravel grinder

I keep having this thought - if half the energy put into 1Xs was applied to triples, we could have some really sweet systems. High top end, low bottom end. Tight gear jumps all the way through. Sweet shifting, front and rear. Enough overlap of ratios that we get to shift in front when we want, not because we ran out of gears. How 'bout a:

50-38-24 X 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25-28-32. 123" to 20". Biggest jump 13%.

Big ring usable cogs - 123" to 54". Middle ring - 86" to 37". Inner ring - 50" to 20"

What's not to like? With clutched RDs and chain catchers and again, half the attention 1X is getting, shifting reliability on rough stuff like gravel should be excellent. And this can all be done on a 110-74 crankset with it's multitude of available chainrings.
