If you are looking for V-brakes that would be a purely Shimano affair and the Deore T600s are good brakes especially with good pads and shoes and good cables and housing, However the Motolites are great linear pull brakes and are worth it if you have a nice bike and want to show off a bit but also improve braking quite a lot. If you can find old XT or XTR linear pull brakes those are also a good choice and would fit nicely in the V-brake category and not just general linear pull stuff.
