Just went through the same thing with used Ural parts. The guy was asking new retail prices on wheels with 8 year old rubber and rims subject to an NHTSB recall and wouldn't budge. I walked but before I did I said he'd probably be calling me back but my offer will be less next time.
I understand the sentimental bit, I won't part with the bike I did my first century on or the one I rode in PBP. I'll let my kids deal with that.
