I was riding in the Superior, CO area recently and was doing some hill work. First day, riding on the bike path along 36 into Boulder, I was whizzing downhill, the bike didn't feel exactly right, got to the bottom and front tire was almost flat so no hill work. Next two days I rode McCaslin Blvd. towards Golden with a nice long uphill. I was tracking my meager results on Strava which was fun. Next day I was feeling good and thought I'd improve on my time but no. Both my time and my VO2 max were below the previous day. My times placed me near the bottom of even the 70-74 group but in addition to not being in great shape I was riding my CX/gravel bike with with 38's. And the dog ate my homework.

I'm riding in a gravel event out of Trinidad, CO next weekend (the RAD Dirt Fest) that's part of the Unbound gravel series. Looking forward to camping at Trinidad Lake State Park with my wife and our dog and meeting people but not really looking forward to riding the shortest (40 mile) route into the mountains. Like the gravel event I rode in May, just hoping to finish and stay mostly upright. I'll check out the results on Strava when I get done, but it's not gonna be pretty. We live at 7,500' so the starting elevation of 6,300' isn't too bad. I will run into trouble as the course ascends the Spanish Peaks for an additional several thousand feet.

Oh, and on Strava premium there is a listing for BikeForum 50+ but there were only 5 other people for the ride I did in Superior, with the most recent entry other than mine in 2017. I'll have to check for other BikeForum members' results closer to where I live.
