Kick-starting this thread because, in large part because of
Eric F 's high praise, I recently bought a pair of the Thundero HD tires in the 40mm size. (Went with the HD because we have lots of sharp flinty rocks around here.)
Right out of the box, these tires reeked of quality. The tires I've been running (a few different WTB models) would need some massaging to take circular shape, would often have weird molding marks, and -- after mounting -- would often display little wobbles or uneven application of the tread to the casing. None of these issues necessarily affected performance, but still...These Tufos, on the other hand, had none of those issues. They were a tight fit to my Roval rims, but then each one snapped into place with a single blast from my booster pump, and have been holding air very well. And though I have only a few rides on them at this point, they roll very well (as
predicted) and have not yet punctured. (Fingers crossed.) They seem to have good grip, and give a nice smooth ride.
Eric, thanks for the rec. Think I might've found a tire I can run for a while!
