Thanks. This is what I suspect. I just don't want it to be true because it means needing to replace the chain ring. I will have to look at this later, but I've already ordered a new freewheel.

I just found the "VROOM VROOM" sound strange. It makes me think the chain is rubbing on the freewheel body, which made me question the chain compatibility. But maybe it's just the sound of the new chain rubbing on worn parts.
