I have a pair of Assos that has been my favorite of all time. I have had them for four years now and probably have used them 500+ times. They still are really doing the job. My favorite thing about these is the chamois and the part around the package. Finally I have a pair of bibs that keeps things snug. No longer am I adjusting myself. They do create a bit of a bulge, but what's the problem with that? The insignia from Assos has deteriorated, but that is about the only deterioration I have noted.
Those work well thanks partly to the design and partly to the heavy-weight Lycra they use. I have a pair of Louis Garneau bib shorts whose shoulder straps stretched enough to make the move from standing to sitting back down a hit-or-miss maneuver, euphemistically speaking. I relegated them to indoor trainer use, but even there standing up and sitting back down can be dicey.
Then -- yesterday, actually -- I used a stapler to shorten the shoulder straps. Now I can stand up and sit back down on my bikes while wearing those shorts without fear of consequences.
