Wife and I coincidentally left for a trip to Illinois the morning of Helene’s landfall. We are safe and sound.

From what I have heard our apartment still doesn’t have power, but we have neighbors taking care of our little kitties and the building is fine. Still not sure how our trip back will be or what we will come home to.

Meanwhile, it’s a beautiful week in northern Illinois.
