i've rarely seen a 7 sp. "135mm O.L.D." freewheel axle that WASN'T Bent...

i think the problem was more because of the engineers wanting one hub standard for everything from 5 to 9 cogs on the hubs.
yes... nine speed freewheels... there's one sitting in a parts bin here now... from a Next Carbon fiber framed bike...it was removed, and the bike got upgraded from 1x9 with MS Advent shift/der.to 1x10( Deore HT2 cranks, and Deore hubs/shifters/der.) and hydraulic brakes.
