What happens (or is required) if you go to a 46 max cog? Is the standard cage and larger pulleys enough to handle this or would I need the SGS XT long cage?

So a Goatlink 11 is not required for a 40T, is recommended for a 42T and will be required for a 46T?
I found a set of take-off 46-30 rings for the front and those are on the way. That will reduce the total capacity by 1T. I wouldn't mind being able to drop the 36 even further if necessary to reduce the capacity further but the GRX rings appear to be "special". I am pretty sure (please correct me if I am wrong) that a GRX 1 X ring won't work with a 2X crank.
Thanks,
