The build as it stands. But! Weight weenie-ism strikes. Or, at least, theorizing how to do it. Would appreciate help/advice on parts, though I already have some ideas.

Parts that are not on the chopping block:
  1. Wheels
  2. Freewheel
  3. Handlebars
  4. Ergo levers
  5. Brake calipers
  6. Tires/tubes
  7. Pedals
  8. Bar tape
  9. Dork disc!!

Parts that I am looking to potentially sub. Parantheses is my guesstimate to my current component's weight based on online spec sheets or actual weighed examples:
  1. Seatpost - Kalloy (270g)
  2. Saddle - Specialized Oura 143mm metal rails (260g)
  3. Cranks+rings - Shimano 6206 - (700g)
  4. Bottom bracket - Shimano un72 121mm - (260g)
  5. Stem/headset
    1. Stem - Velo Orange 31.8mm quill stem - (400g)
    2. Headset - Stronglight delta - (80g)
  6. Rear derailleur - Campy 10s Centaur - (230g)
  7. Bottle cages - Aluminum white specialized - (50g???) x2

Parts that I think could work without breaking the brank too far. Trying to go no more than $2/gram.
  1. Seatpost - Thomson masterpiece - (150g)
  2. Saddle - ????
  3. Cranks + Rings - Raceface Turbine 110/74 triple (550-600g?)
  4. Bottom Bracket - Omni racer Ti - (170g)
  5. Stem/headset
    1. Stem - Kalloy UNO (110g)
    2. Headset - Innicycle (250g)
  6. Rear Derailleur - Campy Record 10s (190g)
  7. Bottle Cages - King Ti - (25g) x2
    1. Would prefer white cages.

Total hypothetical weight savings = (270 - 150) + (260 - 150) + (700 - 575) + (260 - 170) + (480 - 360) + (230 - 190) + (100 - 50) = 655g or 1.44 pounds.

The list above is really just my first pass, I'm not terribly well versed in this stuff. As you can tell, trying to avoid extremely light/dangerous parts and black components, I think this bike's paint looks best paired with chrome/silver. Anyone have any parts recommendations? Thanks.

The parts list I put together would definitely take the bike's aesthetic to a more modern bent, though I think the cranks/stem/seatpost angularity would work well together...perhaps?

My thoughts is that the innicycle+threadless stem would be the most painless alteration to the bike. I've already said adios to the elegance of a classic quill, might as well go all the way. As well as saddle/seatpost. Might come out to a half pound just from that.
