Sure, because we keep wanting more gizmos, and we keep wanting them to do more. The improving efficiency is good and necessary, but the hunger outpaces it. It goes like this with many things. I was an IT guy for many years, and I noticed that while price of storage decreases per byte, the overall budget for storage only rises. Part of that is that we figure out how to store more kinds of things. First numbers, then text, then images, now videos.
