As was alluded to in the thread, disc vs rim brakes has been beaten to death here on BF.
As far as old stuff, I'm ok with most of it except toe clips. Hate toe clips and straps. Might have to do with size 13 wide feet.
I didn't watch the video, so I don't know if the EV analogy is in there, or just in the thread title.
