Well, the crankset choice drives the rest of the drivetrain, which drives what the bike is good to be used for. A 1x system, maybe not on a road bike used in Florida where it’s flat and where the cassette in a 1X system would suck on flat riding, but perfect if mt biking in hills. Likewise a 52/36 Ultegra crank might be a poor choice if constantly riding the gaps of Vermont. But if my location drove the riding, I would change to a crank that would allow appropriate gearing. If I lived in Vermont and assembling a road or gravel bike I would want a 30/46 crank and would build the rest of the group around that, 11-42 cassette, etc…
