I grew up, and still live, in a coastal area popular with tourists. The crowds in the summertime can be annoying, but it is an important part of the economy, so I deal with it. I mostly avoid the spots popular with tourists so it's all good. Growing up there was a lot of anti-tourist rhetoric, but it was never that serious, or as militant, as these reports from Europe sound.
