99% of the time I'm in the 48T chainring though, but like that I have a bailout option on steeper hills. Doing the math though, it appears your new set up will have a slightly lower gear than mine.
Your gearing would not be low enough for stuff I ride on a regular basis in my low 38x42. Or, at least, it would be more difficult for me.
