Actually, I think the 2.0 with belt drive IS a $1k model! Instead of having the more powerful motor, gears and extra weight, it has belt drive and a larger battery than the 1st gen Lite.
(it's 4 lbs heavier than the gen 1 Lite, likely on account of having a longer cross tube to accommodate the larger battery that is common with the regular XP series)
It's the $1K model WITH the higher power motor, and I opted for the higher capacity battery. My mod will effectively double the battery capacity.
