That buffer looks to be about as wide as the one-way bike lanes around where I ride... when there is one.

Sometimes there's just a shoulder instead, right of a white 'fog' line, sometimes only 6 - 8" wide. More often nothing.

(I have to wonder if that image is something AI-generated, maybe for publicity? There's a lot of that out there now & it's getting a lot better at avoiding obvious 'tells' that could give it away.)
