as I understand it, the Wheeltop system can be reprogrammed for pretty much any cassette sprocket #. So even if your source of 14sp cassettes/chains disappears, it’s pretty straightforward to reprogram the shifters to 13- or 12sp. Of course I’m assuming that the spline pattern is compatible with Shimano or SRAM
