Using different materials for cost/convenience, or shortcutting assembly steps or QA, etc. You may get a great deal or may get something that assplodes or fails prematurely and get no support from the company.
Oh. And I certainly wouldn't consider anything where there is only one source for a cassette and chain. Company goes away and you're screwed.
as I understand it, the Wheeltop system can be reprogrammed for pretty much any cassette sprocket #. So even if your source of 14sp cassettes/chains disappears, it’s pretty straightforward to reprogram the shifters to 13- or 12sp. Of course I’m assuming that the spline pattern is compatible with Shimano or SRAM
