I have seen once weird looking chain on bicycle for sale, sadly wasn't able to learn what was it. I had bigger plate covers, not sure what purpose they served, maybe mud guards or advanced bearing design. I was for a long time thinking if bicycle chain with micro roller bearings would be possible or it's just expensive to make? There is a lot reasons to reduce friction in chain too.
