Sometimes changing the length of an outer by an inch or so can make the difference.
When cutting to length I never copy the old one, but run the outer from the brake through all the fittings all the way to the lever - make the curves nice and cut that end.
Yes I think I cut the front cable a little short. Hopefully the brake hoods will start hem out a little when they come in.
